Indiana Democrats Hanging Tough

Posted by on June 5, 2006 at 11:22 AM

The Indiana Republican party has hired a communications director after being pummeled by a "near-daily barrage of online attacks" from Indiana Democratic Party spokesperson Jennifer Wagner.

Gov. Mitch Daniels and other state Republicans have taken a beating in recent months from the Indiana Democratic Party -- particularly from party spokeswoman Jennifer Wagner.

UPDATE: (Tracy)

That's your Democracy Bonds in action, folks. In addition to the much talked about field organizers, the DNC's 50-State Strategy has also provided funding for communication and research directors, depending on the needs of the state Party, in order to build a strong on-the-ground operation across the nation.

Strong state Parties then develop winning coordinated campaigns - well-organized and well-executed teams, working to win races up and down the ballot, in 2006 and beyond.

Kathy from IN and Colleen (aka Xena) are both working their tails off in IN. Kathy would LOVE for Howard to visit to psyche up the troops. Maybe you can coax him, Tracy and Christy!

I'm back. The contractor left early today. I almost puked this afternoon on the way home. That ahole hanity had SS Commander karl rove on his radio show. rove is being real nice. He probably knows we are going to nail his ass to the white house door first chance we get.

I enjoyed Biden this morning on the CBS Early Show. He said that chimp doesn't have a plan for Iraq and that we should split it into three areas with a central government. Makes sense to me.

chimp is such an ahole. In an obvious political move he came out again for the marriage amendment to kiss the asses of the fundies. "It's not a political move says chimp".
How dare he and that ahole frist deface our Constitution. They have no right to even suggest this devisive amendment. All people have the same rights under the Constitution. I thought we settled this with the Civil War but I guess these fundie yahoos want to start it up again. What's next for the KKK repeal the Emancipation Proclamation?

Sorry for the rant but it's been a hot day here in NM. It's currently 97 degrees. It's a dry heat though and if a person remains in the shade it feels great.

Some repug bitch is running for lieutenant governor of NM and has an ad that is badmouthing our Democratic Governor Richardson who is the best governor we have had in years. Before Richardson we had some yahoo repug who always wore a cowboy hat. He didn't do s**t for the little guy just the rich oil people and the people working at the lab at Los Alamos. I guess he loved chimp and wanted to emulate him. I don't think he wore a six gun though. Maybe he wore chaps during sex. Why can't these people be honest and tell us what they plan to do as lieutenant governor. They always have to badmouth Democrats.

Governor Mitch Daniels is an idiot. He is completely out of touch with Indiana voters. He was George Bush's Director of the offfice of Management and Budget, and we all know what a good job he did with that. His main concerns are privatizing the toll road and building walking and biking trails all over Indiana. He could care less that Indiana is bleeding jobs. Not to worry though, he is a one time Governor.I can't believe he got voted in.

Man i hate Rove so badly he's a jerk and always gets away with alot of things. I hope this will be the year the tables turn on him and get humiliated in a big way.

Tracy - thanks for the post on Indiana. Yes, we are working very hard here. The problem is, I feel that the Democratic Party has written us off agian. I feel at times we are spinning our wheels on a lost cause. People want change but they don't want to work at it. I'm very discouraged tonight - perhaps I'm geting a little burn out going. It's going to be a very long summer.

Keep on rockn'

State Convention June 3, 2006 - There are a number of strong Democrat contenders for seats in the US House as well as for State offices. Julia Carsons spoke, if you have not heard her, she is a super speaker. At first I could not understand her speech pattern, but after a couple of minutes I was captivated. I wish that I could vote for her. This November is a great opportunity to elect leaders that will sort out the mess that our current govenment is making. Figure out who is running from your district and lend a hand.

Who is the democratic party running against Richard Lugar for senator?

1BlueStarFather on June 7, 2006 at 08:12 AM

I don't think anyone has stepped forward to run against Lugar. With the costs of running a campaign I can understand. Lugar is likely to win. He's pretty well liked among both Republicans and Democrats. I am guessing that this will be his last run.

Please More than anything, mail this to your candidates, senators, and house members. Let the, our Party know if you agree!!!! At the very least, at least everyone gets in on the conversation. I am Begging you staffers for the Senators, Please Please forward this to all house democrats, their websites are much harder to access. Remember bush/cheney are in the low to mid 30% for a reason, they are wrong AGAIN!!! I swear this to you, not to follow my recommendations will not only mean we will NOT win back either house of congress, we will LOSE seats, if you are on the wrong side of this issue. There is still time to pull it off!!!
We have to keep our eyes on the ball. We Democrats may have the morally correct reason for voting for amnesty, but if we do not get in power, who are we really helping? Who will find out for our kids why the intel was so wrong on Iraq if you can not send for the England guy who wrote the now famous downing st. memo? if we do not get in power, we are hurting the whole country, and the future of our kids, if we do not have the honest truth about Iraq, our kids are doomed to repeat it......... I know it may not be right, but vote for amnesty and the American people will see it as a vote against them!

I use to hate saying, “I told you so”, but I will do it here. I did tell you so, I told every democratic Senator the exact same thing I said in the letter below. In at least five different letters going back almost six months. Note the date of the letter below, this was written long before I knew Mrs. Busby was going to give her now famous fupaw, what ever that stances for. It is just plain common sense, you can not reform something you can not control. I personally think cheney & rove tricked the Senate Democrats into passing their horrible, HORRIBLE bill. However, do not give up yet, even Busby can come back and win! Maybe not win big like she could have before immigration issue got into the mix, but WIN never the less. In the San Diego race Mrs. Busby must now come out and say she did not understand what the voters in that area were looking for, and she has changed her mind. She must now, back a get tough on illegal aliens, border security first policy, because that is what the constituents want. Then smash bush/cheney and the bobble headed congress on their own record on the issue. Never forget it is bush/cheney, and always use both their names because they are a couple, and their bobble headed congress that has refused, absolutely REFUSED, to enforce currant immigration law. We must show the people of the United States that the government is willing to enforce the law, and secure that southern border before we can even debate the illegal’s that have already been let into the country by bush/cheney. After the people see we, the government can CONTROL immigration, then we can talk about reforming it. If Mrs. Busby, and the other candidates say this, and slam the bush/cheney, and their bobble headed congress on their own record. We will win larger than any other time in history. Why, because republicans for the most part desperately want to punish bush/cheney for their mismanagement of almost, no, on EVERY issue they have taken on.

I say to you, us Democrats, if we want to win, and win big, just go against bush on this issue, immigration, and highlite their own miserable record on the issue, hell on every issue! If you must, for God only knows what ever reason, or you do not have the moral courage to say you made a mistake on the illegal alien crisis, say something like the following. Tell Americans you only stood with bush/cheney on this issue because we have been, and are the Party of civil and human rights. Say you were, are concerned over the discrimination of illegal aliens and that our Party stands strong for civil and human rights. Tell us again, how Democrats are against the bush/cheney torture program. How we are against sending people of any race creed, color, or religion to secret prisons with no due process. How us Democrats are against the bush/cheney tapping of phone without a proper court order. Anyone’s phone, no matter if they are Democrat or republican, no one’s phone should be tapped no matter where they call, without the proper court authorization. Besides it is bush/cheney and their bobble headed, rubber stamp congress who are for all those things, and they are the ones who are REFUSING to enforce currant border laws. Our security on both borders, and our ports is a joke!!! Don’t forget they are the ones in all power, at any point they could have made border security and port security a priority, have they, NO!!!
It is, or should be obvious that bush/cheney and the bobble heads only want to enforce the laws they want, and ignore the ones they don’t like.

We Democrats do understand this is a major issue with all Americans, and we will enforce our border laws, even if bush/cheney do not want to. We understand if we do not control immigration we can NOT reform it. Let us, the Democrats show you, the American people we can and will secure our borders, and then we can debate what to do with honest law abiding immigrants that are still here. The bush/cheney White House has been out of touch with the American people for a long long time. Nothing more shows through than the country wants to go in another direction and all the bobble heads will do is give you more of the same. Their words, “stay the course”, we REFUSE to change direction. If voters decide to keep the status-quo, and keep the bobble heads in Congress, we will get only more of the same. They have said it over and over, they will not change directions. But we will, and must!!!

I strongly urge you to go to Lou Dobb’s survey on this date, 06-07-2006. Also look at the Wolf Blitzer show where Jack Cafferty asks his questions on the same date, hell, read the Democratic blogs, we AMERICANS want border security, if you/we Democrats fail to give it to them, they will vote in republicans. I swear it, we can WIN huge, over whelmingly, if and only if we go against bush/cheny on the illegal alien crisis, and again, I swear it to you, it is a crisis. The bush/cheney regime has not been right on ONE single issue, this election should be a cake walk for us, please PLEASE God Don’t Blow it!!!! Senator Ben Nelson seems to have it right. I think Chris Dodd has already blown any chance of being President, maybe even not being reelected. I am very VERY upset with Russ Feingold, and Dick Durbin, over their horrible senate bill, almost as much as I am upset at Joe Lieberman, you know the Democratic traitor.... What can I do to get you people to pay attention to me, and other Americans. Hell, most Americans would support impeaching bush/cheney at this point. At very least we should not be announcing we are NOT going to impeach them. We should campaign on holding them accountable, and having investigations into their many many failures. I am telling you, we all, not just Democrats, most Republicans are ready to have accountability restored to government. We are wanting to punish bush badly!!!

Wonder what laura bush was doing while their two rude, druggie and alcoholic daughters, were growing up? laura is here telling parents how to raise their children. I don't need her advice as I don't want my children growing up drunk, rude, and thumbing their noses at the media............! Camielle

It's time for the overtaxed poor and middle class people of this country to wake up and realize the plain truth about GEORGE BUSH and the current administration who are doing a terrible job of running (or should I say destroying!)this country. Yes I said destroying, because that is exactly what is happing to the poor and middle class people of this country. I say this because the poor and middle class are the ones supporting Bush's war for oil in Irag and now possibly Iran by paying higher taxes than the wealthy of this country includding the BUSH'S, CHENEY'S, RUMSFELDS, ROWES and all other rich REPUBLICANS and those who support such people either with cash contributions or voting for them. All those who are convinced that the war in Iraq is not for oil, I am afraid that when it is over, if it is ever over, you are going to be very supprised at the final truth. Also if the people of this country don't think that the wealthy don't dictate laws and policies in this country, then you are living in a dream world, who do you think gives the lobbyist all of the money to buy a congressman and his vote, it sure as hell isn't the poor! The way you fix this legallized corruption is ban all lobbying and lobbyists and throw out any government official who has accepted a payoff for his or her special vote or privilage and I mean by accepting a cash or special gift, etc. and I don't mean vote them out, I mean throw them out or physically ride them out on a rail.
As for the immigration problem, I say round them all up and deport them, no special favors or amnesty noone asked them to come to this country and create a drain on the economy, yes I said drain on the economy because they sure don't help the economy by getting welfare help, free education, free health care, social security benefits, which are all gotten by illegal means. If stop is not put on this problem you are going to see a return of diseases that haven't been seen in this country for 50 years.
As what for what to do for the price of oil and gasoline, why aren't we using the millions of barrels of domestic oil coming of Alaska instead of selling it cheaply overseas and buying highpriced overseas oil? I think I can tell you the answer in one word (GREED!), Why don't we charge the big oil conglomurants a windfall profit tax on every barrel of domestic oil that is sold overseas and let this tax help pay for the war for oil?
If there are as many people fed up with the onesided way that things have been done in this country for the past 6 years, then unite and change things in 2008, Oh, and by the way lets repeal the tax cuts that were given to the wealthier people and make them start paying their fair share.

I think that the party or at least the Senate should have learned a lesson from the failure in California. The people don't want amnesty, they want the laws enforced against the corporations hiring illegals. Until the Senate changes its stance on this don't be fooled into thinking that the party will automaticly win in Nov. There is strong talk out here about third parties. We don't want the votes taken away from the party because the old senate didn't listen.

VicVining on June 8, 2006 at 12:41 PM

I would have to agree with an above poster that the word on the street is people DO NOT want 12million illegal immigrants granted a fast track to citizenship. There are a few that do want it, but I believe that group is relatively small. That is not to say they are not effective at getting THEIR messgae out by making it seem more folks want "amnesty" than actually do. I am afraid this off year election will not go well for Dems if they take the stance of illegals. Remember that there are still more American citizen VAPs (at least as of now) than there are concentrations of illegals in any one place. Take care of your own first.
