50 State Strategy: Big Sky, MT

Posted by Jen Gonçalves on November 6, 2006 at 03:50 PM

As part of the 50-State-Strategy, the DNC has graciously paid for several staffers to go out and help on campaigns in the final two weeks. So, I happily trekked out to Helena, Montana, and I've been working with the MT Democratic Coordinated Campaign. I'm helping out with the Native American Nation GOTV program. There are seven Native American Nations in the state of Montana, and the Indian Nation vote is essential for Democratic victory in Big Sky Montana.

Stacey Parenteau (who was one of our original DNC State Partnership Project organizers out here) is the Coordinated Campaign Native Outreach Director and is doing a tremendous job working with all the organizers to insure turnout on the reservations. She has taught me so much about the Native American citizens in Montana and the politics in the Indian Nations.

Last week we had a string of GOTV events across the state, including seven in the Indian Nations with Jon Tester, Governor Brian Schweitzer and Senator Max Baucus. Turnout at all the events have been incredible state-wide. Montanans are ready for a change, and ready for a new U.S. Senator! (See one of my pics from the Kalispell Rally last week).

The race out here is extremely tight, and you can feel the energy at headquarters here in Helena, and across the state. There are the early morning message meetings, wonderful volunteers in and out of headquarters all day and night, the endless pot of coffee all day and pizza dinners every night. Last week we had volunteers in here every day until midnight putting precinct packets together and finishing final mailings. It's a lot of hard work, but I am helping out a group of amazing staffers who have been working tirelessly for an incredible candidate who will hopefully become our next U.S. Senator from the beautiful Great State of Montana.

We'll know tomorrow!

EVERYONE!! MAKE LAMONTS DAY!!

The Right is trying to steal Connecticuts Senate seat by voting for the "I' candidate Joe Lieberman. Dont' forget we lose the seat and possibly control of the Senate if Joe-I wins.

We need the Ned-D win to add to our Senate numbers and...
NED LAMONT IS THE ONLY LEGALLY ELECTED DEMOCRAT IN THE RACE ENTITLED TO THAT SEAT!!

Governor Dean and the grass roots are the ONLY people actively helping Ned.

It's the PEOPLE VS THE INSIDERS!

DO YOU FEEL LUCKY??

Speaking of insider's, I visited this site: Inc.www.publicintegrity.org

I typed in three of biggest insider's name involved with corruption and defrauding the Public's trust: Halliburton, Bechtel, and Parsons

I worked for newspapers off and on from 81-93 and did political cartooning and without exception the people who hold key positions in these companies also held key posts and appointment's from my memory from Reagan to Old Bush to Bush Junior. That is over 25 years of manipulation, and unnecessary war to gain government contracts and profit.

Why can't we petition to make this illegal?

Why is war profiteering legal? This has been going on since the Civil War with the reconstruction of the south.

I considered this a "conflict of interest" that these men listed in these companies have held top posts and appointments in the Republican Presidencies and in the Defense Department.

Imagine now how Martha Stewart was sent to Jail over some minor stock trade.

People are dying for these companies to make their profits.

In closing, please visit and read first this site and the companies listed before you comment. Again, the site is: Inc.www.publicintegrity.org</
