Here are some of the things in Obama's stimulus package:

"He wants a nationwide road and bridge-building scheme; to make public buildings more energy-efficient by replacing old heating systems and installing efficient light bulbs; the renovation of schools and installation of computers in every classroom; to extend high-speed internet across the nation; and to give hospitals access to electronic medical records. "

Here is more on the plan:

Today it was announced that over 500, 000 more jobs were lost in Decemeber bring the unemployment rate to 7.2%.  Without jobs people will not be able to stay in their homes.

This is all about under-inflation.  With homes lossing value, banks will not loosen their purses to lend money.  It all starts with jobs.

I would like to see the US become the world leader in Green technology.  SOme manufacturing jobs will never return, lets invest in the future.

Your thoughts?

Democrat in Los Angeles, CA

This your ad's haven't sense in this political blog.

Many of us made several warning to you about it, but you simple refuse to acknowledged and ignore what we are talking about.

Frankly it's and abuse from your side!

The USA gives about $5 billion per year in military grants to Israel. Right now that aid is being put to work slaughtering Palestinians, largely civilian men, women, and children.

This must stop. It's not only wrong, but it's a waste of tax money and makes us vulnerable to terrorism.

If you want to give out financial aid, give it to struggling students, not the Israeli war machine.
Dear Tom Harkin:

Yes, Harvey Dent is appeasing the regressive right with his revamped trickle-down stimulus. It was only about three weeks ago when some in the fantasy-based community were hailing the stimulus as the lone, "progressive" beacon of light in the parade of Clintonian cabinet appointments. I wonder what their fallback position will be this time. Surely, it can't be Harvey's trickle-down health scheme which does more for those who already have insurance than for those who don't. We'll see how this developes. Keep showing the young bucks what a Democrat is supposed to be. America needs a little bit of old school right about now.

Sincerely,
pee-wee
Dear Chris Floyd:

What you have eloquently written about is something that was inevitable ever since Harvey Dent started using the word "entitlements" on the campaign trail. Robert Rubin and Larry Summers won't be satisfied until senior citizens are forced back into poverty like they were at the beginning of the 20th century. Our future yes-man-in-chief would rather let Rubin and Summers make cuts in Social Security than make cuts into the military industrial complex.

Wrong choice. Wrong priorities.
This is the very kind of thing that makes people hate government.

Sincerely,
pee-wee

New Obama Poster for Inauguration
By Katharine Q. Seelye

If anyone is realizing the marketing potential of Barack Obama, it is Mr. Obama’s marketers themselves.

After all, Advertising Age, the bible of Madison Avenue, named the Obama campaign "Marketer of the Year" last fall, citing in particular its ability to brand itself. Obama beat out marketing heavyweights like Apple, Nike and Coors. And that was before he got elected.

Mr. Obama’s inaugural committee is now marketing a new version of the iconic "Hope" poster that became a phenomenon during the campaign and helped brand the candidate, certainly in the minds of the young.

The new poster was created by Shepard Fairey, the California street artist who created the original image.

He designed this one specifically for the inauguration. "Be The Change," the poster instructs. It takes the now-familiar red and blue image of Mr. Obama and sets it against a backdrop of the Capitol and the White House.

Dear Davey D:

I am sending a link your way in hopes that some folks who call themselves "progressives" will demand accountability. Cops who murder deserve the same fate as thieves who murder.

Spoke to Dee today and:

First of all Dee said to send her love to all of you.

She is doing better but still in alot of pain. She is receiving plenty of pain meds from the nurses.

She will be hitting the blogs again soon. As many of you know Dee mostly blogs on the KOS and a needed a break from here after the election like many of us. She said she will here on PB soon.

She said to tell all of you that she will answer all your emails and PM's as soon as she is able.

I read to Dee some blogs from PB'ers on the net while she on the phone and she laughed at some (so hard it literally hurt) and said the warm wishes from many of you here and on our other blogs on other sites meant so much to her.

Freedom Of Speech will be back soon....can't silence our very own Freedom Of Speech! Dee is anxious to blog about Obama and the change we all worked so hard for.

Warm thoughts to you Dee.
Why???????
After his flat out public disagreement with Moore?

I don't even want to think what Moore is about to do now.
GET THE FACTS BEHIND THE NEWS

Elizabeth Warren head of the oversight panel setup by Congress
to monitor the Federal Bailout says, “THE GOV’T STILL DOES NOT SEEM TO HAVE A COHERENT STRATEGY FOR EASING THE FINANCIAL CRISIS despite the billions it already spent in that effort”. “Instead the gov’t seemed to be lurching from one tactic to the next without clarifying how each step fits into the overall plan. The overall impression is one of confusion by a leadership(?) that does not know what it is doing.

One of the reasons for Ms. Warren’s observation is the US does not have an economic strategy or for that matter a strategy for many other important areas.

Professor Michael Porter distinguished Harvard Business School Professor has written in the Nov. 10 issue of Business Week an article explaining why he believes the development of a economic strategy is critical.

Professor Porter notes the American political system as it has evolved with piecemeal reactions to current events. Each candidate during the election presented a set of disconnected policy proposals for their political appeal. Each “approached the economy with long held ideologies and policy positions, many of which no longer fit with today’s reality. I believe Professor Porter would like to see an organized approach to policies that promote long term growth and competitiveness

Professor Porter has measured the US economic effort against other countries. The US is not in the top 10 as a free market economy in many important aspects. MORE ON THIS.
The facts are that there are needs in America that are not being met. Some 40% of households are gleaning 78% of earnings. That leaves 60% of households scrambling to reap a miserly 22% of earnings. To further add to the mess 20% of households grab 50% of earnings. There is no sound reason to support this crime with law. Furthermore, millions of Americans are suffering from toxins, vice, and a legal system that fails to secure rights for the less affluent. The justice is bought by the rich for the rich. Vice is a major problem and is being use to excluded persons from gainful employement. Smokers and drinkers are being forced into jobs that will most certainly reduce their lifespan. This crime against the less affluent must end. The legal system should not be operated for the purpose of disenfranchisement. Lives are at stake. The less affluent exposed to vice by rich corporations should not pay for the luxury of criminals. We need to apply the law as prescribed not justify a blood code.
What do you think needs to be number one priority for Obama. Pick 3 and name them in order or priority.

if you haven't heard his speech today, this is the breakdown:

We need it, no choice here.

Any ideas or comments about his stimulus package?

President-E Obama's plan will call for an additional 800 billion dollar deficit in place; what did he say about people being able to stay in their homes?

What a mess we are in around the world.

Seems China is having its own economic difficulties and may not be able to buy our debt anymore.

So what now?

Dear Anthony Hamilton:

I've had time to digest your new album. I really didn't get the same feeling that I got from your previous works, but I can say that the title track is definitely a hit. I hope someone decides to actually put one of your hits on the radio this time.

Sincerely,
pee-wee
I'm a lifelong Republican. I believe in small government, low taxes, and telling people (and the government) to mind their own damn business, not mine.

However, after the last eight years, I'm not convinced. Suddenly we have bigger government, more debt (which will almost surely be followed by more taxes) and the government is coming after all of us with every intrusive tool except a proctoscope (and that may be on the drawing board.)

So, this is your big chance to convince me - is it time to switch? Give me a reason.

Not an "against" reason, like "Republicans are all evil white people and they're all fascists and they just want to play golf and club baby seals while they watch black people pick cotton AIEEEEEEEE I can't stand it!"

I'm talking about a "for" reason. Something that makes sense. Give it at least a try. Come on. You can do it. :)
