After Unilaterally Attacking Iran, Trump Has No Clue What To Do Next

In response to the Trump administration failing to provide basic answers after unilaterally bombing Iran, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:

“Donald Trump ignored the Constitution and failed to get congressional approval for his act of war — now he has no idea what to do next. Instead of providing the American people with clear answers, the Trump administration can’t even get themselves on the same page and answer basic questions or provide a plan for peace. Was the strike successful? Did they ignore US intelligence? Are we at war? This afternoon, people are scared, servicemembers’ lives are at risk, and our national security is on the line. Donald Trump owes the American people answers, not false bravado.”

Donald Trump and his administration can’t agree on if their strike on Iran was successful.

Donald Trump: “Iran’s key nuclear enrichment facilities have been completely and totally obliterated.”

Kristen Welker: “Do you have 100% confidence that Iran’s nuclear sites were totally destroyed?”

JD Vance: “I feel very confident that we have substantially delayed their development of a nuclear weapon” …

Welker: “Substantially delayed by years? What does substantially–” …

Vance: “I think that we have really pushed their program back by a very long time. I think that it’s going to be many, many years before the Iranians are able to develop a nuclear weapon.”

Jonathan Karl: “Can we say that definitively, or are we just not sure yet? I mean, have those facilities been obliterated?” …

Vance: “What we know is we set their nuclear program back substantially. … That was the objective of the mission, to destroy that Fordow nuclear site … we feel very confident that the Fordow nuclear site was substantially set back.”

Reporter: “But do you believe that some nuclear capability in Iran remains?” …

Chairman of the Joint Chiefs Dan Caine: “It would be way too early for me to comment on what may or may not still be there, but thanks for the question.”

The Trump administration admitted they ignored their own intelligence, saying it was “irrelevant” and “forget about intelligence.”

Margaret Brennan: “Are you saying there that the United States did not see intelligence that the Supreme Leader had ordered weaponization?”

Marco Rubio: “That’s irrelevant. I think that question being asked in the media, that’s an irrelevant question.” …

Brennan: “You know in the intelligence assessment that it was that Iran wanted to be a threshold state … I’m talking about the public March assessment, and that’s why I was asking you if you know something more from March, if an order was given?” …

Rubio: “Forget about intelligence.”

Kristen Welker: “Do you and President Trump trust the US intelligence community and its assessments?” …

Vance: “Of course we trust our intelligence community, but we also trust our instincts.”

Trump and JD Vance can’t even agree on if America is at war.

Trump: “IRAN MUST NOW AGREE TO END THIS WAR.”

Jonathan Karl: “The big question is the United States now at war with Iran?”

Vance: “No, we’re not at war with Iran, Jon. We’re at war with Iran’s nuclear program.”

Trump unilaterally bombed Iran — an act of war — without congressional approval and without briefing key national security leaders in Congress.

New York Times: “U.S. Enters War With Iran, Bombing Key Nuclear Sites”

Manu Raju, CNN: “Top Dems on House and Senate Intel Committees — Jim Himes and Mark Warner, both members of Gang of Eight — were not briefed before the attacks on Iranian nuclear sites, per sources.”

NBC News: “Some lawmakers in both parties question the legality of Trump’s Iran strikes”

“[A]t least two GOP lawmakers joined Democrats across the party spectrum in suggesting it was unconstitutional for him to bomb Iran without approval from Congress.”
