“No matter how many times losing candidate Jefferson Griffin appeals his baseless voter suppression case, it won’t change the facts: Justice Allison Riggs beat him and won her seat on the North Carolina Supreme Court months ago. Instead of honoring the will of the voters, Griffin wants to send his attacks on North Carolina voters to the very court he currently sits on. To protect North Carolina voters, it is now critical that Judge Griffin recuse himself from hearing his own case. Judges Valerie Zachary and Tom Murry, whose campaign committees donated to Griffin, should recuse themselves too.”

• Republican Jefferson Griffin plans to appeal a Wake County court loss in his effort to invalidate more than 60,000 North Carolina ballots cast during the November elections.

• Wake County Superior Court Judge William Pittman on Friday ruled that elections officials did nothing wrong when they rejected Griffin’s challenge.

• Griffin said in court documents Monday that he intends to appeal Pittman’s decision to the state Court of Appeals.

• Griffin, a judge on the appeals court, didn’t immediately respond to a request for comment. He has declined to comment on the case, saying that judges shouldn’t comment on pending litigation.
