DNC on Lunar New Year

DNC Chair Tom Perez and DNC Vice Chair Grace Meng released the following statement in celebration of Lunar New Year:

“Happy Lunar New Year and warmest wishes to all celebrating in America and all around the world. As Asian American and Pacific Islander families welcome the Year of the Dog, we join them in celebrating tradition, community, and family. In Chinese tradition, the dog represents kindness, courage, and service to others – principles that should always guide us at the DNC as we work to expand opportunities for all Americans. This festive holiday reminds us of the critical contributions that the Asian American and Pacific Islander community has made to our society. Asian Pacific Islander Americans helped build the transcontinental railroad. They’re artists and scientists, educators and entrepreneurs, athletes and public servants. They serve in our armed forces and their businesses employ nearly three million American workers nationwide. Asian Pacific Islander Americans make the United States stronger each and every day. From our family to yours, we wish you all a prosperous, healthy, and happy New Year and Year of the Dog.”
