DNC Statement on House Passage of President Biden’s Build Back Better Framework

Following the House’s passage of President Biden’s Build Back Better Framework, DNC Chair Jaime Harrison released the following statement:

“Today, House Democrats took another monumental step to advance President Biden’s agenda and deliver for American families. President Biden ran on the promise to rebuild our economy so it works for everyone, not just those at the top. Democrats are now one step closer to fulfilling that promise with a once-in-a-generation, fully paid-for plan that will create good-paying jobs, combat the climate crisis, lower costs for the middle class, and ensure corporations and the wealthiest Americans finally pay their fair share. And not a single House Republican voted for it — not one.

“Because of Democrats, millions of kids will not have to live in poverty, seniors will have the health care they deserve at lower costs, and families and small businesses will have what they need to thrive. Because of Democrats, our economy will be stronger and working Americans, no matter their background or where they come from, will once again be a priority.

“Americans elected President Biden and Democrats because they wanted a government that works for them, and leaders who would roll up their sleeves and get things done. While Democrats are stepping up and delivering for the American people, every single House Republican showed that they only care about their extreme, obstructionist agenda. While Democrats will spend 2022 highlighting how Democrats delivered, Republicans will have to answer to their constituents why they oppose lower health care costs and prescription drug prices, child care funding, and taking on the climate crisis.

“I applaud Speaker Pelosi and House Democrats for advancing this historic framework for the American people. Democrats will not rest until the Build Back Better Framework makes it to President Biden’s desk, and then we will make sure every last American knows who delivered for them and hold Republicans accountable when they try to take credit.”
