Ahead of Donald Trump’s speech to West Point cadets who were exposed to COVID-19 after being called back to campus, DNC Veterans and Military Families Council Chair and retired U.S. Navy Lt. Jan Donatelli released the following statement:

“These cadets have committed the first years of their adult lives to serving our country — to putting our collective safety, security, and future before themselves. Their selfless service demands respect, especially from their Commander-in-Chief. But instead of recognizing what they have sacrificed and celebrating all that they have accomplished, Donald Trump has once again decided to make this about himself. He put these patriots in harm’s way for no other reason than to cushion his own ego.”
