Psst, Trump Has No Health Care Plan

Trump is trying to overturn the entire Affordable Care Act and threaten the health care coverage of millions of Americans, without offering a plan to replace it. Trump says Republicans senators are working on a plan, but Republican senators say they’re waiting on him — it’s clear there is no plan.

Yesterday, Trump said that Republican senators are working on a health care plan to replace the ACA.

Washington Post: “Trump says GOP senators are working on a ‘spectacular’ health-care plan”

Trump: “We are working very hard on that. … They are going to work together, come up on something really spectacular.”

But Republican senators say they’re waiting on Trump to release his own health care plan. It’s clear there is no plan.

Senator McConnell: “I look forward to seeing what the president is proposing.”

Senator Alexander: “I’m looking forward to hearing what the president’s plan is.”

Senator Roberts: “We’re waiting on the president’s plan.”

Senator Cornyn: “We’re anxious to see what the administration proposes.”

Senator Thune: “The leader is sort of anxious to see what the president and his team put forward in terms of a proposal.”

Senator Collins: “[Trump] has to have a detailed plan that is going to be an improvement over the ACA.”

An unnamed frustrated Republican senator: “We need a plan, and right now we don’t have one.”
