DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement after Donald Trump issued an executive order cutting weekly unemployment benefits by $200:
“Donald Trump’s incompetence crashed the American economy and left millions without work. Now Trump is punishing the very people he put out of a job by cutting unemployment benefits during a pandemic. ‘Cruel’ doesn’t even begin to describe this behavior. The American people deserve a president who will lift them up when they’re down, not pour salt on their wounds. Joe Biden will be that president.”
