Today, an investigation by CNN’s KFile found that a known insurrectionist from the January 6 attack on the U.S. Capitol accompanied several Republican members of Congress on their recent visit to the U.S.-Mexico border. DNC spokesperson Adonna Biel released the following statement:

“It turns out that the same week congressional Republicans disrespected the Capitol Police who defended them on January 6, they were hanging out with a known insurrectionist from those very same attacks. It’s no wonder Kevin McCarthy and Republicans have fought tooth and nail to block a bipartisan investigation into finding out what happened — they’re not only protecting Donald Trump, but they’re also protecting the extremists that McCarthy has handed control of his party over to. Extremism is not a bug in the Republican Party — it’s a feature.”
