Republican leaders, from Glenn Youngkin to Ronna McDaniel, continue to demonstrate a remarkable commitment to pushing Donald Trump’s Big Lie, despite the fact that it served as a catalyst for the deadly attack on the Capitol building and assault of police officers. In a blatant attempt to undermine our democracy, Donald Trump has made the Big Lie a litmus test for Republicans up and down the ballot and many Republicans are stepping up to his challenge.
On OAN, Trump continued his nonsensical, fact-free rants about his Big Lie.
- CNN Business: “Trump was in the middle of a fact-free rant about ‘vicious’ Democrats cheating on elections when he said ‘they’re destroying our country. Our country will not survive this. Our country will not survive.’ Then he sniffed and shifted to immigration, saying ‘look at where they’re coming from,’ clearly mimicking the ‘great replacement theory’ talking points that Tucker Carlson has been mainlining into homes across the country.”
Trump’s mini-me Glenn Youngkin continued to raise doubts about the election by refusing to say whether he would have voted to certify the election on January 6.
- Axios: “Youngkin believes Biden beat Trump in the 2020 election legitimately. But while speaking with Axios, he wouldn’t say whether he would have voted to certify the election on Jan. 6 if he were a member of Congress.”
And RNC Chairwoman Ronna McDaniel continued to spread misinformation about the 2020 election and keep it at the top of the GOP agenda.
