MAGA Republicans Are Taking Over the GOP
October 10, 2022
New reporting today confirms what we all knew, if Republicans win the House in November, extreme Georgia Congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene will have a front and center role in Kevin McCarthy’s caucus. Greene is just the latest MAGA Republican warmly embraced by the rest of the party.
Despite Marjorie Taylor Greene’s long record of spreading conspiracy theories, anti-Semitism, and standing shoulder to shoulder with white nationalists, Kevin McCarthy has promised to elevate her if Republicans gain power.
Associated Press: “Once shunned as a political pariah for her extremist rhetoric, the Georgia congresswoman who spent her first term in the House stripped of institutional power by Democrats is being celebrated by Republicans and welcomed into the GOP fold. If Republicans win the House majority in the November election, Greene is poised to become an influential player shaping the GOP agenda, an agitator with clout.”
Associated Press: “Marjorie Taylor Greene took her seat directly behind Republican House leader Kevin McCarthy, a proximity to power for the firebrand congresswoman that did not go unnoticed, as he unveiled the House GOP’s midterm election agenda in Pennsylvania.”
Arizona gubernatorial nominee Kari Lake has received broad supportfrom the Republican Party even as she parrots Trump’s Big Lie and proclaimed her support for Arizona’s draconian abortion ban.
Atlantic: “Trumpism Has Found Its Leading Lady”
Kari Lake: “I’m incredibly thrilled that we are going to have a great law that’s already on the books, I believe it’s ARS 13-3603.”
AZ Mirror: “Kari Lake, a former news anchor, is a staunch supporter of Trump’s baseless claims that he won the 2020 election. The GOP nominee in Arizona is also endorsed by Trump and has suggested that she won’t accept the results of her upcoming election if she loses.”
Tudor Dixon enjoys support from the likes of the DeVos family, Donald Trump, and Kristi Noem despite her relentless support for forcing children and rape victims to give birth.
MLive: “In mid-May, when a debate moderator asked if former president Donald Trump won the 2020 presidential election in Michigan, Dixon smiled broadly and said yes as the crowd cheered.”
WXYZ: “That wasn’t the same for Dixon, who wouldn’t commit to accepting the results [of the 2022 election] through a spokesperson.”
Michigan Advance: “[Tudor] Dixon opposes abortion for rape victims because there’s ‘healing through the baby.’”
Trump invited Nevada Secretary of State nominee Jim Marchant to speak on stage with him at his Saturday rally. Marchant has rejected past election results and promised at the rally that, if he wins the role of overseeing Nevada’s elections, he will work to make Trump president again.
Vice: “‘When my coalition of secretary of state candidates around the country get elected, we’re gonna fix the whole country and President Trump is gonna be president again,’ Marchant promised as Trump stood next to him during a rally in Minden on Saturday night […] ‘President Trump and I lost an election in 2020 because of a rigged election,’ Marchant said, failing to add that a court dismissed his efforts to re-run the election for a U.S. House seat.”
Vice: “Marchant failed to tell the crowd that some of the inspiration for his extreme policies comes from a QAnon influencer he’s been working with since November 2020 […] The coalition was revealed publicly at a QAnon conference in November 2021. On Sunday, the organizer of that conference, who’s known as QAnon John, wrote on Telegram that he was ‘good friends’ with Marchant.”
