IN THE STATES: GOP on Defense Over Anti-Abortion Agenda

In the states this week, Republicans continued to make headlines for their extreme, anti-abortion agenda. Last night, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed one of the strictest abortion bans in the country, which applies before many women even know they are pregnant.

From Iowa to New Hampshire to South Carolina, Republican Senator Tim Scott spent his first week in the 2024 race for the MAGA base dogged by questions about his support for banning abortion nationwide. Today in his home state he promised that, if he was president, he would sign the most extreme abortion ban possible.
