MAGA Republicans this week stooped to new lows with their extremism, hypocrisy, chaos, and — as President Biden would call it — malarkey. In case you missed it: Donald Trump and Mike Pence threw their support behind Tommy Tuberville’s actions undermining military readiness, Ron DeSantis and Vivek Ramaswamy floated pardons for January 6 insurrectionists, Ramaswamy continued to spout his nonsense foreign policy ideas and expressed support for letting convicted felons carry guns, new reporting exposed Trump for repeating baseless lies in his failed attempts to attack President Biden, and Pence continued to campaign on ending Social Security as we know it.

Donald Trump and Mike Pence threw their support behind fellow MAGA extremist Tommy Tuberville as he continues his shameful blockade of hundreds of military promotions and nominations — undermining our military and jeopardizing our national security.

Trump: “He is doing his thing right now, and he has the courage, at least, to speak up for his convictions. … He’s got the guts to do what he wants to do, what he thinks is good.”

Pence: “All that can be over tomorrow if the Pentagon would just stand down on attempting to push a liberal social agenda.”

Ron DeSantis doubled down on saying he would consider pardons for January 6 insurrectionists and convicted criminals who attacked law enforcement, and Vivek Ramaswamy also condemned white supremacists and insurrectionists being brought to justice.

New York Times: “Another candidate, Vivek Ramaswamy, declared on X, formerly Twitter, on Tuesday in response to the sentences, ‘This is wrong & it’s sad that I’m the only candidate with the spine to say it.’”

Ramaswamy once again proved he has no idea what he’s talking about when it comes to foreign policy. 

The Hill: “Fox News anchor John Roberts pressed Republican presidential candidate Vivek Ramaswamy over his views on defending Taiwan from China during an interview Friday. Ramaswamy has isolated himself from the rest of the GOP primary field on a number of key policy issues, including not supporting continued aide for Ukraine in its war against Russia, and a radical proposal to cede territory taken by Russia in eastern Ukraine in exchange for Moscow ending its military alliance with China.”

“Roberts then pushed Ramaswamy on whether the U.S. should support a democracy off China’s shores, beyond the semiconductors. Ramaswamy responded by calling Roberts’s comments a ‘caricature.’”

Ramaswamy continued to push his extreme MAGA agenda, this time saying convicted felons should be allowed to carry guns and throwing his support behind constitutional carry laws.

Politico: “Vivek Ramaswamy says convicted felons should be allowed to carry weapons.” 

Politico: “‘Everyone has a gun?’ asked Cuomo, once a prominent figure in Democratic Party politics. ‘Everyone has an assault weapon? A former felon? No background check? Concealed carry?’

“‘Has the right to,’ Ramaswamy responded. ‘And I do think concealed carry is important, constitutional carry is important.’” 

New reporting exposed Donald Trump for resorting to false attacks on President Biden that have been repeatedly debunked.

Washington Post: “Former president Donald Trump is, by his own admission, attacking President Biden in increasingly vicious terms. The attacks on Biden center on allegations that are exaggerated or unfounded, frequently drawing on right-wing media reports about the foreign business dealings of Biden’s son Hunter Biden. The president has denied any involvement in his son’s affairs, and no evidence has emerged proving otherwise.”

Mike Pence is still campaigning on ending Social Security as we know it. 

Seacoastonline: “Responding to a question on Social Security, Pence said he wanted to replace the New Deal-era policy with ‘a better deal.’

“‘We’ve got to come to terms with the fact that the principal drivers of government spending are Social Security and Medicare,’ Pence said.”
