Following Donald Trump’s repeated refusal to commit to accepting the results of the next election and Lara Trump’s shameful attempts to follow his election denier lead, DNC Rapid Response Director Alex Floyd released the following statement: 

“After Donald Trump refused to commit to accepting the results of the election three times last night, Lara Trump is following his lead in whitewashing January 6 when insurrectionists stormed our Capitol. This is what has become of the MAGA Republican Party. Lara Trump is pushing the same dangerous election denier agenda that has taken over Donald Trump’s GOP while downplaying the violent attacks against law enforcement and the rule of law that threatened our democracy. In case it wasn’t clear enough, Donald Trump and the rest of his MAGA lackeys are showing that democracy is on the line in this election.”

Last night, Lara Trump downplayed January 6, claiming the problem was too much “focus” on this violent attack against our democracy.

Linsey Davis: “At one point Biden asked Trump directly if he would denounce the Proud Boys and insurrectionists. Donald Trump did not answer. Does he denounce the Proud Boys and what happened on January 6?”

RNC Co-Chair Lara Trump: “Well, I think the problem that we have with January 6 is that it has been very focused on.”

Lara Trump ahead of January 6: “We want to make sure that if there is a contested vote, anybody who doesn’t want to certify the votes for Joe Biden, that they get their chance to debate that.”
