ICYMI: DNC Lays Out Clear Message During Trump’s First Week in Office: Trump Governs For Billionaires, Not Working Americans
January 27, 2025
Last week, the DNC took to the airwaves and newspapers to highlight how Trump is failing working Americans at every turn. From Day 1, as Trump took the oath of office in a room full of his billionaire backers, his supporters were left in the cold – a preview of the next four years. Trump promised to lower costs for Americans, but instead, he’s more focused on rescinding policies to lower the costs of prescription drugs, attacking critical programs like Medicaid and Social Security, releasing violent criminals, weaponizing natural disaster relief, and laying the groundwork for another tax handout to billionaires.
Make no mistake: Trump is screwing over the American people – and it’s only week 1.
Take a look at some of the coverage below:
Here’s what folks saw on the airwaves:
KTVN: “What we heard today was a campaign speech. It was not the typical inauguration speech where we had an incoming president talking about their forward-looking vision for the American people and how they’re going to help them. What we had was, instead, a president who’s sitting alongside a cadre of tech billionaires.”
WKOW: “What I know is that Donald Trump talks a lot about a mandate, and what this first week has shown me is that he got a different message from the voters than the rest of us did. And so I would say that he needs to look at his playbook too.”
Queen City News: “DNC Deputy Executive Director Roger Lau argued just the opposite, that Trump’s remarks and guests in attendance on Monday revealed his true allegiances. ‘Sitting alongside him as he was taking that oath of office was not who you would normally think. He was sitting alongside billionaires, tech oligarchs, you know, people who are going to be coming into his administration.’”

Through his Project 2025 agenda, Trump and his billionaire Secretary pick Linda McMahon intend to dismantle the Department of Education, end critical Title I funding that would jeopardize 36,188 students’ education, and roll back life-changing loan relief efforts for Wisconsinites to fund tax cuts for the rich. Channel 3000: Trump putting billionaires over everyday people as presidency begins, DNC chief of staff says
[Kyle Jones, 1/24/25]
“The Democratic National Committee chief of staff criticized President Donald Trump on Thursday, saying he has prioritized billionaires over working families in the early days of his presidency.
“‘He highlighted people who are looking out for their bottom lines,’ Schneider said in reference to the row of billionaires seated in the Capitol Rotunda during the inauguration. ‘I think that was a real missed opportunity to address the needs of the folks who voted for him and the Americans who didn’t too.’
“‘You’ve got this powerful billionaire up there doing questionable activities, and it’s scary and it’s troubling,’ Schneider said. ‘What troubles me also is the fact that this billionaire is up there talking about his vision for America, which also does not include lowering costs or making folks’ day to day lives better in Wisconsin.’
“‘We’re used to getting back to work. We have to get back to work,’ Schneider said. ‘We have to elect Democrats up and down the ballot. The best way to fight against Trump is to give him more foils who will actually stand up for working people and for Wisconsinites.’”
