In Final Week, Aftyn Behn Remains Laser-Focused on Affordability
November 25, 2025

One week ahead of Election Day on December 2, and as early voting ends tomorrow, Aftyn Behn continues to stay laser-focused on the issues most important to Tennesseans: lowering their grocery bills, lowering their health care costs, and fighting back against tax breaks for billionaires. In stark contrast, Republicans like Matt Van Epps have no plan to lower Tennesseans’ costs, and he is instead spending his time defending Donald Trump’s Big Ugly Bill. Matt Van Epps said he would have voted for the Big Ugly Bill despite the fact that it kicks 210,000 Tennesseans off their health insurance and puts nine rural hospitals on the brink of closure, and he says there’s “no policy” of Donald Trump’s that he disagrees with.
A Reminder: New CBS polling found that 64% of Americans disapprove of Trump’s handling of the economy and 60% disapprove of his job performance overall, a record low for Trump.
In the final stretch, the DNC is all-in to help the Aftyn Behn campaign, deploying our robust volunteer organizing team that has already contacted more than 70,000 voters in the district.
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Abhi Rahman released the following statement:
“As Republicans’ disapproval ratings hit new lows, including on their handling of the economy, Matt Van Epps would be more of the same: another MAGA Republican with no plans to lower costs for Tennessee families. In stark contrast, Aftyn Behn continues to run a disciplined campaign focused on lowering costs and protecting health care. From her time as a health care organizer to her leadership in the Tennessee state legislature, Rep. Behn has fought to eliminate the state’s grocery tax, protect health care and rural hospitals, and ensure large corporations and billionaires pay their fair share. From now until Election Day, the DNC is all gas and no brakes to ensure Tennessee families have a fighter who will lower their costs and won’t bend the knee to Washington Republicans — and that leader is Aftyn Behn.”
