NEW ECONOMIC DATA: Trump Devastates Main Street as Manufacturing Jobs Disappear and Bankruptcies Hit Record Highs

New economic data reveal that Donald Trump’s reckless economic policies are dealing a massive blow to Main Street. According to the December ISM Manufacturing PMI report, manufacturing contracted in December for the 10th consecutive month — falling to the lowest reading of 2025 — as businesses struggled under the weight of Trump’s disastrous tariffs. Respondents overwhelmingly blamed Trump’s reckless trade war for job losses and high prices.

Another report also showed that bankruptcies skyrocketed in 2025 to levels unseen since the Great Recession. Over 700 companies — with the largest share in the manufacturing sector — filed for bankruptcy through November, the highest number since 2010, as employers cited Trump’s trade policies for soaring inflation and disrupting supply chains.

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

“Donald Trump has devastated the manufacturing sector and gutted Main Street. While Trump and his billionaire buddies cash in on presidential favors and massive tax breaks, the Trump administration’s policies are hiking costs and eliminating good-paying jobs. Trump knows he has failed working families on the economy, and that’s why he’s turned his attention to using taxpayer dollars for regime change abroad to buy influence and relevancy on the world stage. Americans are fed up with being put last, and they will not sit by as Trump continues to wreak havoc in their everyday lives.”
