Trump praised Collins: “You’re doing good”

The majority of Mainers have soured on Donald Trump, but that doesn’t include Susan Collins. Last night in the Oval Office, Donald Trump applauded Susan Collins, saying, “You’re doing good,” while she was holding his signature merch. 

Collins — who votes with Trump 96% of the time — is severely out of step with her constituents, who are struggling under Trump’s MAGA agenda. Over 5,000 Mainers have lost their jobs since Trump took office, Maine families are set to lose $760 per year due to Trump’s failed economic policies, and 33,000 Mainers are on track to lose their health insurance because of the GOP budget Collins voted for. 

In response, DNC Spokesperson Albert Fujii released the following statement: 

“It’s not surprising that Susan Collins spent her evening receiving praise from Donald Trump — Collins votes with Trump 96% of the time, even if it hurts working families in Maine. This is classic Collins: She supports Trump’s MAGA agenda, despite the fact that the same agenda is causing Mainers to lose their jobs and health care and pay hundreds more for the basics. Mainers are fed up with Collins and will vote her into retirement in November.”
