The DNC congratulates Claire Valdez on winning the Democratic primary for New York’s 7th Congressional District — a seat currently held by retiring Rep. Nydia Velazquez. Democratic voters throughout New York backed candidates who are focused on lowering costs, protecting healthcare, investing in communities, and fighting for working families.
In response to Claire Valdez’s victory, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
“Claire Valdez has devoted her career to serving New Yorkers and making life better for her neighbors. As a union organizer and New York State assemblymember, she has focused on improving workers’ rights, advocating for renters, and advancing economic fairness. In Congress, Claire will always put families first and fight to lower costs, protect healthcare, make housing more affordable, and build an economy that works for everyone. The DNC is ready to help organize and mobilize voters to elect her and ensure New York’s 7th Congressional District has a leader they can count on to stand up for them every single day.”
