Trump and Republicans have raised costs on American families by $2,072 to $3,569
Under Donald Trump, 95% of Americans believe the U.S. is suffering an affordability crisis, according to a new poll. About half of Americans are struggling to afford groceries and gas, and 57% believe the economy is worsening, up 11 points from February, before Trump started his war with Iran. About half of those polled also said that they are struggling to afford their debt.
Trump has repeatedly dismissed Americans’ concerns about the economy, saying he doesn’t “think about Americans’ financial situations,” “even a little bit,” and calling affordability a “hoax.”
In response, DNC spokesperson Jaelin O’Halloran released the following statement:
“Donald Trump has made life unaffordable for most Americans. His reckless agenda has jacked up costs on everything from gas to groceries, as healthcare premiums skyrocket and it becomes harder to find a job. Working families are having to stretch their wallets thin just to get by, but Trump can’t be bothered to focus on anything except his vanity projects and family fortune.”
Inflation in May rose to the highest point in three years, as high prices continue to wipe out wage gains and eat up Americans’ paychecks. The personal saving rate, which measures Americans’ disposable income, dropped to 3% last month, one of the lowest readings since the Great Recession, as Americans turn to their savings and credit to keep up with high prices.
