To mark the beginning of Hispanic Heritage Month, DNC Chair Ken Martin and DNC Vice Chair Artie Blanco released the following statement:
“For centuries, Hispanic Americans have built our country, organized our communities, served in uniform, and worked in essential sectors to keep our economy growing. Across the country, Latinos have helped shape America’s story by breaking barriers, blazing new trails, and building vibrant neighborhoods through culture, food, music, and so much more.
“While others use and abuse their power to scapegoat Latinos and spread fear, Democrats remain committed to making sure every family can thrive — no matter where they live or where they’re from. Beyond the critical need for economic stability and immigration reform that upholds our nation’s values and keeps communities safe, Democrats are working to bring down the soaring cost of living, expand access to affordable healthcare, invest in good schools and job training, and expand the promise of the American Dream. During Hispanic Heritage Month, we celebrate and recognize the towering accomplishments of all Hispanic and Latino Americans as well as icons like Dolores Huerta, who inspired countless Americans before us with the enduring call: sí se puede.”
