Today, the U.S. Supreme Court issued a ruling to allow the Trump administration to move forward with an error-ridden online system that would allow them to combine data across the federal government and make last-ditch attempts to intimidate and purge eligible voters.
In response, DNC Chair Ken Martin released the following statement:
“Today’s Supreme Court ruling is an outright attack on the sacred right to vote, undermines critical privacy protections, and will lead to demands to purge eligible voters from the rolls. It is clear that Donald Trump and Republicans are in panic mode as the American people head to the ballot box to hold them accountable for their reckless agenda, which has made life unaffordable for working families. That is why Trump and his lackeys are doing everything they can to suppress the vote — from redrawing district lines and attacking voting rights to purging eligible voters and spreading debunked conspiracy theories.
“With less than 40 days until the midterm elections, Democrats remain committed to our tireless work of protecting voting rights across the country, fighting back against Republicans’ desperate attacks on free and fair elections, and ensuring every voter can make their voice heard this November and beyond.”
