Today, JD Vance will travel to Alaska to promote the failed Trump-Vance Republican agenda that has made life unaffordable for working families. Donald Trump and Vance’s reckless tariffs and deadly and costly war with Iran have spiked prices on everyday essentials from gas to groceries, crushing everyday Americans and earning Trump an all-time-low approval rating. Now — as their approval ratings continue to sink to record lows and even their strongest supporters turn their backs on them — Trump and Vance are desperately trying to rally their base as the midterm elections approach and Republicans face defeat.
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and JD Vance launched reckless tariffs and started a deadly and costly war with Iran that have wrecked the economy, leaving everyday Americans struggling to make ends meet. Working families are being forced to dip into their savings or take on even more debt as prices soar and it gets harder to find a job, with no relief in sight. As the midterms approach, Trump and Vance are desperately trying to rally their fracturing base, but let’s be clear: in less than a month, voters will hold them accountable at the ballot box for their failed agenda.”
REMINDER: The average household in Alaska has spent an additional $5,600 for everyday essentials under Trump and Vance, including $310 for groceries and $1,190 on housing costs. The average price for a gallon of gas in Alaska is $5.02 and the average price for a gallon of diesel is $6.58. The average Alaska family has shelled out an additional $765 on gas alone since Trump and Vance started their unpopular war with Iran. This comes on top of Trump and Republicans’ refusal to extend the Affordable Care Act (ACA) tax cuts, forcing over 3,000 Alaskans to drop insurance coverage as subsidies lapse, pricing working Alaskans out of essential healthcare.
