Trump: “I don’t give a damn” about Americans who criticize high gas prices because “we’re making a freaking fortune”
Donald Trump and JD Vance’s administration has been a gift to billionaires, big corporations, and special interests who have seen their wealth skyrocket — while everyday Americans, farmers, and small business owners struggle to make ends meet.
A new report today found that ExxonMobil and Chevron reported their highest quarterly fuel-related earnings ever, as Exxon’s profits climbed to $15.4 billion — up 104% over the same period last year — and Chevron’s earnings increased to nearly $10 billion because of Trump’s deadly and costly war with Iran. To make matters worse, new reporting this week revealed that 100 of the most profitable corporations in the U.S. paid nothing in federal income taxes in 2025, after Trump’s Big Ugly Bill gave billionaires permanent tax cuts — while slashing healthcare and food assistance for everyday Americans.
Meanwhile, Trump and Vance’s war has already cost consumers $265 BILLION — about $2,000 per household — including an additional $1,100 on fuel and energy costs alone. Americans have paid an additional $142 billion on gas and diesel since Trump and Vance started their war, and the average price of gas has been above $4 per gallon for 174 days this year — more than any year on record — as the U.S. is on track to have the most expensive Election Day gas and diesel prices in history.
REMINDER: Just last week, Trump admitted, “I don’t give a damn” about Americans who criticize high gas prices because “we’re making a freaking fortune.”
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Donald Trump’s presidency has been a boon for billionaires and big corporations, while working families can’t make ends meet. Because of Trump’s deadly and costly war with Iran, big oil corporations have made record profits, while everyday Americans struggle to fill up at the pump or pay for groceries. And while healthcare and food assistance for working families gets slashed, billionaires are getting permanent tax cuts because of Republicans’ Big Ugly Bill. In the final few days leading up to the midterms, Trump’s message to voters is clear: ‘billionaires and big corporations first, Americans last.’”
