Tonight, as midterm results come in, Donald Trump admitted his priorities for 2027 are “finishing” his White House ballroom and beginning work on his proposed “Arc de Trump.”
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“As Americans struggle to afford groceries and gas, Donald Trump is clear-eyed about his priorities: finishing his ballroom and erecting monuments in his honor. Tonight, voters across the country are rejecting Trump and Republicans for turning their backs on them.”
After months of Trump vowing that his White House ballroom would be “taxpayer-free,” the White House has diverted more than $400 million in funding to cover the costs of White House renovation projects — including Trump’s new ballroom. On top of that, taxpayers are on the hook for $100 million for the “Arc de Trump,” nearly $20 million for a botched reflecting pool, and more than $5 million to coat four Lincoln Memorial horses in gold.
