DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement in response to Congressional Democratic leaders introducing the Raise the Wage Act of 2017, legislation that would grow the minimum wage to $15 by 2024:
“I enthusiastically applaud the tireless efforts and continued leadership of Democratic legislators to help American workers break free from a rigged economy that favors our wealthiest citizens while squeezing the middle class. No one in this country should work a full-time job and still struggle to pay bills or put food on the table. Only when the minimum wage is raised to a living wage will we truly restore economic security to hardworking Americans.”
