Tom Perez Statement on Trump Administration’s Reversal of ‘Persuader Rule’
June 12, 2017
Following the Trump administration’s reversal of Department of Labor “persuader rule” that requires companies to disclose contacts with outside consultants in response to unionizing efforts, DNC Chair Tom Perez issued the following statement:
“All workers deserve to know who is responsible for the information they receive during union organizing efforts. That’s why, when I was Secretary of Labor, we worked to establish requirements that companies disclose contacts with consultants to influence unionizing efforts. The rule doesn’t limit what employers or consultants can say, just makes sure that workers will know who’s behind the message. This decision by the Trump administration takes power out of the hands of workers and empowers corporate bosses.”
