How Can Families Trust Price To Provide Affordable Health Care?
September 22, 2017
“Secretary Tom Price has wasted hundreds of thousands of taxpayer dollars on at least two dozen private charter jets, while working to take health care away from millions of Americans. Secretary Price is in charge of the health of all Americans – instead of wasting their money, he should start working to protect them. It’s clear that Americans cannot trust him with their health care.” – DNC deputy communications director Adrienne Watson
Under Graham-Cassidy, Secretary Price would decide if state health plans are adequate and affordable for families.
QUESTION: “Who decides what’s affordable to a family?”
CASSIDY: “That would be the Secretary of HHS.”
That’s the same Tom Price who is wasting taxpayer dollars on his own private jet travel – exceeding $300,000.
Politico: “Health and Human Services Secretary Tom Price has taken at least 24 flights on private charter planes at taxpayers’ expense since early May, according to people with knowledge of his travel plans and a review of HHS documents. […] The cost of the trips identified by POLITICO exceeds $300,000, according to a review of federal contracts and similar trip itineraries.”
And the same Tom Price who said his travel was for his demanding schedule, but took a private flight to the Aspen Ideas Festival, arriving nearly 19 hours early. Really?
Politico: “For example, Price took a Learjet-60 from San Diego to the Aspen Ideas Festival — a glamorous conference at the Colorado resort town — that arrived at 3:33 p.m. on Saturday afternoon, June 24, nearly 19 hours before his scheduled panel. That flight likely cost more than $7,100, according to one charter jet agency estimate.”
