DNC on Tom Marino Withdrawal
October 17, 2017
In response to Rep. Tom Marino’s decision to withdraw his name from consideration to be President Trump’s drug czar, DNC spokesperson Daniel Wessel released the following statement:
“Tom Marino’s withdrawal does nothing to show that Trump is taking the opioid epidemic seriously. Despite his rhetoric and months of repeated promises, Trump still hasn’t declared the opioid crisis a national emergency. On top of that, Trump’s harmful proposals would only make the epidemic worse. As this epidemic takes more lives each day, Trump has yet to offer any meaningful solutions, just more political bluster. While Trump refuses to step up, Democrats continue to fight to provide those struggling with addiction the treatment and resources they need.”
