President Trump and his administration have made a lot of promises about their tax plan, all of which have been broken or will soon be broken by the Republican tax plan currently moving through Congress. Here’s just one:

Trump’s Broken Promise #3: Trump repeatedly claimed his tax cuts would “tremendously” benefit the middle class.  

Associated Press: “Trump met with Republicans and Democrats from the tax-writing House Ways and Means Committee at the White House, telling reporters he would be releasing a ‘very comprehensive, very detailed report’ on Wednesday that would offer the framework for his top legislative agenda. ‘We will cut taxes tremendously for the middle-class. Not just a little bit but tremendously,’ Trump said.”

TRUMP: “By eliminating tax breaks and special interest loopholes that primarily benefit the wealthy, our framework ensures that the benefits of tax reform go to the middle class, not to the highest earners. It's a middle-class bill.”

Reality: The Republican tax plan would actually raise taxes on millions of middle-class families.

Wall Street Journal: “But by 2021, households making between $10,000 and $30,000 would pay more than if Congress did nothing. And by 2027, after individual tax cuts would expire, every income group under $75,000 would have tax increases, on average.”

Wall Street Journal: “In 2027, half of all U.S. households would pay more in taxes than if Congress did nothing. That includes 66% of the middle part of the income distribution.”
