In response to the Trump administration scaling back fair housing enforcement, DNC spokesperson Daniel Wessel released the following statement:

“For years the Obama administration worked to end discrimination in federally subsidized housing and development projects, but now the Trump administration is rolling back those efforts. Instead of fighting for lower-income Americans, people with disabilities, and racial and ethnic minorities, Trump and Ben Carson have decided to gut enforcement of fair housing laws and sideline career officials who pursue civil rights cases. As if abusing taxpayer dollars for his dining set wasn’t enough, Carson is now turning his back on the very taxpayers his agency is supposed to help.”
