A new report from the Sunlight Foundation’s Web Integrity Project revealed that the Trump administration’s Department of Health and Human Services removed the breast cancer website and related resources from WomensHealth.gov. According to POLITICO, the site included “information about ACA provisions that require coverage of free mammograms for some women” and details on a “free CDC screening program for low-income women.” DNC Women’s Media Director Elizabeth Renda issued the following statement in response:

“Make no mistake, the Department of Health and Human Services’ removal of information about life-saving preventative breast cancer treatment from its official site for women’s health is yet another example of disregard for women and their health and well-being by the Trump administration. One in eight women in the United States will develop breast cancer over the course of her lifetime, and this administration’s decision to obscure resources to help protect women from this deadly disease is shameful.

“The department’s paltry excuse for removing this site is truly inexcusable, and this is part of a pattern. Less than two weeks ago, it was revealed that Health and Human Services also stripped lesbian and bisexual health content from the same page.

“The Trump administration might be willing to play political games with women’s health care to advance their radical agenda, but Democrats will never stop fighting to make quality affordable health care accessible for every woman, man, and child in this country.”
