Over the past 24 hours, new reports have shown how Trump’s anti-immigrant policies have continued to escalate. Immigrants who want to serve our country are being forced out of the Armed Forces, and even more children have been forcibly separated from their families, who may never see them again. Here’s the latest:

Despite Trump’s promise to allow immigrants who want to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces to stay in our country legally, U.S. Army reservists and recruits are now being abruptly discharged.

2016: Army veteran Sue Fulton: “Do you believe that an undocumented person who serves – who wants to serve in the U.S. Armed Forces deserves to stay in this country legally?”

Donald Trump: “I think when you serve in the Armed Forces that’s a very special situation, and I could see myself working that out: absolutely.”

NOW: Associated Press: “Some immigrant U.S. Army reservists and recruits who enlisted in the military with a promised path to citizenship are being abruptly discharged, the Associated Press has learned.”

The Trump administration acknowledged they may have separated hundreds more children from their parents than previously estimated.

Politico: “HHS Secretary Alex Azar on Thursday acknowledged the Trump administration may have separated hundreds more migrant children from their parents than previously estimated as lawmakers from both parties called for greater scrutiny of the border policy.”

The Trump administration does not know how to reunite many of the families they separated after they lost or destroyed records linking children to their parents.

New York Times: “Records linking children to their parents have disappeared, and in some cases have been destroyed, according to two officials of the Department of Homeland Security, leaving the authorities struggling to identify connections between family members.”
