In response to reports that the Trump administration is eliminating the gainful employment rule, DNC spokesperson Daniel Wessel released the following statement:
“The Obama administration enacted the gainful employment rule to ensure for-profit schools gave students the skills they need to obtain good-paying jobs. Now, instead of working to build the workforce of the future, Betsy DeVos is eliminating the gainful employment rule and allowing predatory for-profit schools to defraud and take advantage of students.
“While the Trump administration refuses to hold predatory institutions accountable, Democrats are fighting to ensure all students can get a good education and a good-paying job – without being saddled with mountains of debt.”
