DNC on Betsy DeVos Removing Protections for Sexual Assault Victims

DNC Women’s Media Director Elizabeth Renda released the following statement on the Department of Education’s proposed rule change to Title IX:

“Instead of fighting to protect victims of sexual assault, the Trump administration continues to shield the accused and turn its backs on victims. This latest rule change would lead to fewer allegations being considered sexual assault and could cause even more trauma by requiring that representatives of students accused of sexual harassment be allowed to cross-examine survivors.

“Over the past two years, the Trump administration has delivered one devastating blow after another to women and victims of sexual misconduct. While the Trump administration has shown us where their priorities lie, Democrats will not stop fighting to hold this administration accountable for its attacks on women and victims of sexual assault.”
