DNC on Election of Rep. Karen Bass as CBC Chair

DNC Chair Tom Perez released the following statement on the election of Congresswoman Karen Bass (CA-37) as chair of the Congressional Black Caucus:

“I couldn’t be happier to call Congresswoman Karen Bass the next chair of the Congressional Black Caucus. From fighting for criminal justice reform and child welfare to affordable health care and a stronger economy for all, Karen has devoted her life to serving California families and African-American communities across the country. Karen is a proven leader who never backs down and always stands up for the values of inclusion and opportunity for all.

“I’d also like to thank Congressman Cedric Richmond for his leadership. The CBC remains in good hands with Karen, and I look forward to working with her in the Democratic-led House of Representatives.”
