DNC Statement on Latina’s Equal Pay Day

Under Trump and Republicans’ disastrous policies, Latinas’ inflation-adjusted wages have dropped

In recognition of Latina’s Equal Pay Day, DNC Chair Ken Martin and DNC Vice Chair Artie Blanco released the following statement:

“Today serves as a stark reminder that Latinas are still paid an average of 53 cents for every dollar paid to white men. Far from narrowing this gap, Trump and Republicans’ reckless policies have made it worse — forcing hardworking families to fall further behind while the richest Americans get even richer.

“With just 26 days until the midterm elections, Hispanic families feel increasingly betrayed by the rising costs, decreasing real wages, and empty campaign promises that Trump is responsible for. Democrats are organizing across the country and reaching Latinas and Latinos directly with concrete plans to restore the American Dream and ensure every family has the chance to build a better life.”

Since Donald Trump took office, the wage gap between Hispanic women and their white male counterparts has widened. Across the country, Latinas are paid, on average, 53 cents for every dollar earned by their white male counterparts. To close the gap of wages earned in 2025, Hispanic women must work an additional nine months and eight days. This racial gap exists despite Latinas being one of the fastest-growing groups of entrepreneurs in the U.S. and contributing $1.3 trillion to U.S. gross domestic product.

A majority of Hispanic voters rank inflation and the cost of living as a top issue heading into the midterms as Latino families disproportionately bear the costs of higher utility bills under Trump. Hispanic homeownership rates have also fallen to one of the lowest levels since the pandemic.
