El Director de Medios Hispanos del DNC, Marco Frieri, emitió la siguiente declaración a medida que Donald Trump llama repetidamente al cambio climático un “engaño” e impulsa una agenda MAGA extrema que destruiría las protecciones ambientales básicas y pondría fin a las desgravaciones fiscales para reducir los costos de energía para las familias trabajadoras:

“Donald Trump nunca se ha topado con una teoría de conspiración sin base que no le guste, así que, por supuesto, piensa que el cambio climático es un ‘engaño’; es por eso que se postula con la misma agenda extrema e impopular que propone  desmantelar las protecciones ambientales básicas y poner fin a los alivios en  impuestos del presidente Biden para las familias trabajadoras para ayudar a reducir los costos de energía. Mientras el presidente Biden está abordando frontalmente la crisis climática con nuevas inversiones para proteger los empleos y nuestro planeta, Trump simplemente está impulsando peligrosas teorías de conspiración y amenazando a las industrias sostenibles que están creciendo y han ayudado a impulsar nuestra recuperación económica. El pueblo estadounidense quiere un líder que comprenda las amenazas que enfrentamos y haga algo al respecto, no un extremista MAGA como Trump a quien no le importa mantener a los estadounidenses seguros ni proteger los empleos del futuro”.

Donald Trump llamó repetidamente el cambio climático un “engaño”, mientras pasaba cada año en el cargo destruyendo y socavando las protecciones y regulaciones ambientales.

CNN en Español: “[Donald Trump] ha dicho desde hace tiempo que cree que el cambio climático es un fraude, un engaño. Más recientemente, dijo que “realmente nadie sabe” si es real. Y esta semana deshizo varias regulaciones sobre cambio climático que ya estaban establecidas en el país”.

France 24: “El presidente Donald Trump, que el año pasado inició el proceso para retirar a Estados Unidos del Acuerdo de París, cuestionó antes de llegar al poder la existencia del cambio climático y desde entonces se ha mostrado escéptico sobre sus efectos.

“Trump aseguró que había leído parte del informe de su Gobierno sobre los costos del cambio climático, pero le echó la culpa del fenómeno a otros países, como ‘China o Japón’”.

New York Times: “Over four years, the Trump administration dismantled major climate policies and rolled back many more rules governing clean air, water, wildlife and toxic chemicals.”

Associated Press: “[Trump] rolled back dozens of environmental rules he considered overly burdensome on businesses. Many of the regulations were designed to protect the environment and public health, but were viewed by the Trump administration as costly and unnecessary.”

Politico: “Trump is once again seeking deep and unrealistic cuts to most federal agency budgets … The EPA’s budget would see a nearly 27 percent chop.”

Slate: “In Trump’s budget, which was also released today, the discretionary budget for the … [EPA] is cut by $2.8 billion.”

Si bien el presidente Biden encabezó la Ley para la Reducción de la Inflación, Trump está presionando para derogar esta legislación emblemática que aborda la crisis climática.

Trump también promete sacar una vez más a Estados Unidos del Acuerdo Climático de París, al que el presidente Biden se reincorporó después de que Trump socavara la confianza internacional en Estados Unidos y abdicara del papel de Estados Unidos como líder mundial en la lucha contra el cambio climático.
