ICYMI: DNC Trains Organizers, Registers Voters, and Mobilizes Volunteers During Stuff Costs Too Much Weekend of Action

Democrats throughout the country held more than 200 on-the-ground events, registered voters, trained 150 new organizers, signed up volunteers, and had 10,000 conversations with working families

In case you missed it, the DNC hosted a successful Stuff Costs Too Much Weekend of Action in which Democrats throughout the country held more than 200 on-the-ground events, engaged thousands of volunteers, trained 150 new organizers, and had nearly 10,000 conversations with working families.

Events included an organizer bootcamp, door-to-door canvasses, voter registration drives, neighborhood meetings, Know Your Rights trainings, service events, phone banks, and a national activation call. Every single event held Republicans accountable for jacking up costs and focused on the work Democrats are doing to make life more affordable.

[Matt Brown, 6/26/26]

“The Democratic National Committee is organizing hundreds of community events across the country this weekend in hopes of harnessing the same concerns about affordability that President Donald Trump capitalized on to return to the White House.

“The events include school supply giveaways, food bank drives, neighborhood door knockings and organizer trainings.

“‘Everything costs too damn much under Donald Trump and the Republicans,’ Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin said in a statement.

“Martin said party members planned ‘to reach, engage, register, and mobilize voters who will make the difference in races up and down the ballot.’”

That’s why we are out across the country helping families put food on the table, get school supplies, and register to vote.

We are organizing everywhere, so that come November, we win up and down the ballot.

DNC Chair Ken Martin on Facebook: When I was out in Pennsylvania canvassing and meeting with local leaders, I heard so many gut wrenching, personal stories from members of the community about how they’re suffering in Trump’s economy and being priced out of the American dream.

Here are a few of their stories:

A grandma in Westmoreland can no longer afford her medications or groceries because her benefits have been cut. When we met, she was overcome with emotion because no one had ever come to her door before to listen to her struggles.

A laborer in Erie told me how she was struggling to keep up with her debt as everything from groceries to gas prices continue to rise. She had settled on Erie because at one point it was the place to afford the American dream—now she can’t afford her rent.

Local leaders told me how people call their offices everyday to complain about how they can’t afford the cost of living in Trump’s America.

I told them what I am telling you: Democrats are fighting each and every day to lower costs and restore the American Dream for everyone who is struggling to make ends meet.

Ryan Bizzaro on Facebook: It was great to welcome Democrats (DNC) Chairman Ken Martin to Erie for an important conversation about the future of our party.

If we’re serious about winning, we need to recruit candidates who reflect their communities, compete everywhere, and engage voters in a meaningful way. We can’t keep taking the bait on divisive issues that are designed to distract us. People want leaders focused on lowering costs, creating an environment for good-paying jobs, strengthening public safety, improving schools, and growing the economy.

That’s how we build a bigger coalition, earn back trust, and win elections.
