New economic data released today shows that consumer sentiment in April collapsed to the lowest level EVER as consumers’ inflation expectations for the year ahead jumped significantly from 3.8% to 4.8% amid Donald Trump and JD Vance’s unpopular war of choice in Iran. Over 70% of Americans said the government is doing a poor job on economic policy.
This follows today’s Consumer Price Index report for March, showing that inflation surged to 3.3% in March, almost a full point higher than the month before and higher than it was when Trump took office.
In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Donald Trump has tanked the economy for working families. Everyday Americans were already struggling to afford rent, groceries, and prescription drugs, and then Trump decided to start a reckless war with Iran and push prices even higher – and for what? Americans are drowning under rising costs, flat wages, high unemployment, and historic layoffs – it’s no wonder they’re concerned about how they’re going to make ends meet and Trump and JD Vance can’t be bothered to make life more affordable for them.”
