NEW DATA: Prices Continue To Skyrocket and Consumer Sentiment Dips To Record Lows as Trump and Republicans Ignore High Costs at RNC Midterm Convention

Right after Donald Trump and Republicans wrapped up their “Trump-a-Palooza” midterm convention, where they tried to gaslight Americans about their disastrous agenda, new inflation data released today revealed that prices rose 3.4% in August. In the past year, prices on essential goods and services have skyrocketed, including fuel oil (+52%), gas (+27.4%), and electricity (+3.8%), largely due to Trump’s deadly and costly war with Iran, and higher gas prices accounted for a third of last month’s increase.

New data today also showed consumer sentiment so far in September fell to its second-lowest level on record. It is now 16% lower than before Trump’s war with Iran began and 33% lower than when Trump took office.

Americans have already spent an additional $3,800 under Trump and Vance because of their reckless trade war and war with Iran. This week, global oil prices hit $108 a barrel for the first time since May, and Americans have shelled out an additional $72 billion on gas since Trump’s war began — approximately $604 per household.

REMINDER: Just last night, Trump claimed he’s “delivered on every single promise” since entering office — despite vowing to end inflation on “Day One.”

In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:

“Donald Trump and Republicans desperately tried to spin their disastrous agenda at their so-called ‘midterm convention,’ but day in and day out, Americans feel the strain of skyrocketing prices. Trump has repeatedly doubled down on his reckless trade war and deadly and costly war with Iran, even as working families dip into their savings and take on debt just to make ends meet. Trump can spin,  but the reality is that his price-spiking policies have been a nightmare for working families — and voters are ready to hold Republicans accountable.”

It’s no wonder Trump’s approval ratings have fallen to historic lows: A meager 33% of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance — the lowest of either of his terms — while more than 70% disapprove of Trump’s handling of the cost of living. A majority of voters say they are financially worse off since Trump returned to office, including nearly one in four Republicans.
