This morning, Secretary of Agriculture Brooke Rollins admitted that high gas prices are driving up prices on other everyday goods like groceries. Rollins told CNBC, “The fuel, energy does drive everything else,” and acknowledged that the war with Iran “does drive prices up.”
Newsflash to Rollins: Everyday Americans are struggling under high prices, and Trump doesn’t care. Trump has repeatedly dismissed concerns about his economy, saying he “love[s] the inflation” and doesn’t “think about Americans’ financial situation.”
Today, the national average price for a gallon of gasoline sits above $4.10. Trump’s war with Iran has cost consumers nearly $150 billion, or about $1,100 per household since the war started, and rising prices will squeeze consumers even more as families prepare to go back to school next month.
Under Rollins at the Department of Agriculture, farmers are also being crushed by Trump’s war with Iran as prices of fertilizer and diesel skyrocket. The price of diesel currently sits at a whopping $5.24 per gallon, and a new report found that farmers spent $1.4 billion more on diesel during this year’s spring planting season than they did last year. One survey showed that a whopping 70% of farmers were unable to afford all the fertilizer they need.
Four more U.S. service members were killed last weekend, bringing the total number of fatalities in the dangerous war to at least 18. Meanwhile, Trump is ramping up military action again, and even threatening to put U.S. troops on the ground. Trump’s war with Iran is the most unpopular war since polling began, yet Trump and JD Vance have no plan to bring an end to the war.
