During Donald Trump’s speech tonight at the RNC Midterm Convention, Trump made another empty promise to Americans to give out checks, “if the Republicans win the House of Representatives and the United States Senate.”
Time and again, Trump has promised to give Americans rebate checks, including: $5,000 stimulus checks from the DOGE savings that never materialized; $2,000 stimulus checks from revenue from Trump’s tariffs; $1,000+ in direct payments after eliminating healthcare subsidies, and $500 checks from “savings” from expiring ACA tax credits after Trump and Republicans refused to extend the tax credits. True to Trump fashion, Americans have not seen a dime of these promised checks, while Trump and Republicans have worked overtime to secure tax breaks for the ultra-rich.
In response, DNC Rapid Response Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and Republicans are once again offering empty promises to Americans. The only people reaping the benefits of Trump’s economy are himself, his family, and his ultra-rich elite donors. Meanwhile, working families get nothing except sky-high receipts at the grocery store and the pump, unaffordable healthcare premiums, and wages that aren’t keeping up with inflation.”
