At least 18 of Trump’s pardon recipients absolved of paying fines or restitution had White House ties
New reporting today revealed that Donald Trump’s pardons of convicted fraudsters caused crime victims to lose out on at least $119 million in restitution they were owed. In total, there are $1.1 BILLION in federal fines impacted by Trump’s orders — including more than $665 million in restitution requested by prosecutors that was canceled because of Trump pardons. That number grows when factoring in Trump’s blanket pardon of January 6th rioters who were ordered to help cover damage to the U.S. Capitol.
At least 18 of Trump’s pardon recipients absolved of paying fines or restitution had White House ties, as Trump’s allies lobbied for them. A report last month found an extensive marketplace of lobbyists and lawyers that has operated throughout Trump’s second term to secure pardons for convicted fraudsters and criminals in exchange for exorbitant payments. Some of Trump’s pardons include donors convicted of financial crimes after they, or someone close to them, made massive donations to Trump’s organizations.
REMINDER: At a recent town hall, “Fraud Czar” JD Vance claimed he has never seen “a shred of evidence that [Trump] participates or sanctions in corruption.”
In response, DNC Deputy Communications Director Kendall Witmer released the following statement:
“Donald Trump and his ‘Fraud Czar’ JD Vance have trafficked in rampant corruption and pay-to-play politics, taking every opportunity to bail out their wealthy and well-connected donors for massive amounts of cash. Trump and Vance promised to ‘drain the swamp,’ yet their administration has helped out convicted fraudsters while screwing over the Americans and small businesses who were cheated out of their money. Americans are tired of Trump and Vance auctioning off the presidency to the highest bidder while they get left in the dust. In just one week, voters will hold them accountable for their out-of-control corruption.”
The Trump family’s net worth has nearly doubled since the 2024 election to a whopping $10 billion. Trump himself raked in at least $2 billion since returning to the White House — more than any other year — as he engages in shady business deals and hands out special favors to his wealthy donors. Trump has also paused investigations into companies and billionaires who have enriched his family and businesses, including securities fraud cases and investigations into crypto billionaires who infused over $1 billion into Trump-owned crypto ventures.
