DNC Honors AANHPI Heritage Month

DNC Chair Jaime Harrison and DNC AAPI Caucus Chair Bel Leong-Hong issued the following joint statement to celebrate the start of AANHPI Heritage Month:

“This AANHPI Heritage Month, we celebrate the rich diversity of our Asian American, Native Hawaiian, and Pacific Islander communities and shine a light on the great impact AANHPI communities have had throughout the history of our nation. We have so much to be proud of – such as the trailblazers of our past, from Dalip Singh Saund to Patsy Mink, to the leaders of today – including our own Vice President Kamala Harris, Ambassador Katherine Tai, and countless others.

“President Biden and Vice President Harris are dedicated to delivering for our AANHPI communities. And the Democratic Party is proud of the Biden-Harris administration for always uplifting AANHPI voices and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with these communities.

“While this is a time for celebration, it’s equally important that we never lose sight of the progress yet to be made. Let us recommit ourselves to fighting against the discrimination and xenophobia that unfortunately still permeates in our country today.”
