ICYMI: DNC, DCCC, DSCC, DGA, and ASDC Launch “Organizing Summer” Campaign to Build Momentum And Energize Voters Ahead of 2025 and 2026 Elections

In response to Senate Republicans passing their disastrous budget bill, Democrats are ramping up the pressure on Republicans and meeting voters where they are to build momentum heading into the upcoming election cycles. Yesterday, the DNC alongside its sister committees, launched “Organizing Summer,” an all-out organizing blitz featuring in-person and virtual events and activations to cultivate a robust volunteer base ready to fire back at Republicans and ensure state parties are registering voters.

Democrats are organizing earlier than ever before, and the “Organizing Summer” campaign ensures Democrats will be in the best position possible to kick Republicans out of their seats and win across the board in critical 2025 and 2026 elections.

Take a look at some of the coverage below:

On Broadcast:

MSNBC’s “The Weeknight”

Host: “‘Organizing Summer’ is an effort led by the Democratic National Committee in coordination with the party, Senate and House campaign arms to lay the groundwork for future elections with a focus on the Republican tax bill. Democratic groups will hold events across battleground states aiming to register and engage voters. Another part of the plan [is] helping volunteers counter Republican messaging in non-political spaces like book clubs, sports forums, and WhatsApp groups.”

DNC Chair Ken Martin: “The Democrats are doing a lot, but I want to tell your listeners, if they want to engage in this organizing program that we have right now, text ‘summer’ to 43367, if you want to be part of our efforts right now to actually fight back, to organize and to, you know, hold Republicans accountable on this big, dangerous, ugly bill that they’re putting forward. We have the outlet for that energy. We’re going to take this not only to digital spaces, but to, you know, offline spaces in person, like county fairs to sporting events. We’re going to register voters. We’re going to mobilize them and get them involved in this fight right now, not just to save our democracy, but to stand up for Americans right now.”

CBS News: To help party brand, Democrats prepare “Organizing Summer”

[Hunter Woodall & Zak Hudak 6/30/25]

“The plans, first obtained by CBS News, fall under the label of what these groups have dubbed ‘Organizing Summer.’ While this year has relatively few major statewide elections, such as gubernatorial races in New Jersey and Virginia, the 2026 midterms will be a crucial test for a party that is trying to respond to the lessons learned from Republicans’ wins in last year’s campaigns, including the presidential race. The groups behind the summer organizing effort include the Democratic National Committee, the Democrats’ coalition of state parties as well as the campaign arms for House, Senate and gubernatorial contests. …

“The summer program is focused on voter engagement and registration, particularly with voters who wouldn’t otherwise hear Democrats’ messaging. The DNC has signed up 16,000 volunteers, twice as many as it typically has in an off-election year, according to a Democratic strategist familiar with the plans. As part of the summer effort, Democrats will urge volunteers to connect with voters in less politically dominated parts of life, with the outline of the plan pointing to community groups, book clubs and social media platforms as examples.

“The plans include developing a ‘direct pathway to share feedback they receive from voters, and what they are seeing online, helping the party inform its messaging and strategy on an ongoing basis,’ according to upcoming details about the party’s work shared by the strategist familiar with the program.

“‘We are deploying an army of thousands of volunteers to activate their communities, register voters, and make sure the Republicans who are putting billionaires ahead of working and middle class Americans lose their elections in 2025 and lose their seats in the midterms,’ DNC chairman Ken Martin said in a statement.”

“Democratic groups are kicking off a new community organizing effort this summer, taking aim at Republican priorities and widening their scope to include ‘non-political spaces’ like book clubs and sports forums.

“Democrats plan to focus part of their efforts on ‘equipping volunteers to authentically enter conversation in non-political spaces,’ including in ‘sports forums, community groups, book clubs, and on social media platforms,’ according to a news release announcing the push. Democrats will also host voter registration events and provide a ‘direct pathway’ for supporters to share feedback from voters, according to the news release.

“In a Zoom call announcing the launch of their ‘Organizing Summer,’ DNC chair Ken Martin said the DNC plans to spend more than a million dollars on races up and down the ballot across Virginia ahead of the commonwealth’s off-year election in November, when former Rep. Abigail Spanberger, a Democrat, will face off against Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears, a Republican, to be the next governor.

“With a focus on rural communities, Martin said, the DNC, in coordination with the Virginia Democratic Party, will visit ‘every corner’ of Virginia and organize everywhere from book clubs to sporting events.”

“The new initiative is led by the Democratic National Committee, the state party chair association and Democrats’ House, Senate and gubernatorial campaign arms. It will ramp up the party’s activity ahead of this fall’s elections and the 2026 midterms, which will serve as a referendum on President Donald Trump’s second term and test Democrats’ ability to rebound.

“Democrats see signs of momentum amid backlash to Trump’s policies, encouraged by public opposition to many aspects of his One Big Beautiful Bill legislation moving through Congress. But they are also anxious to counter GOP gains in voter registration and improve their image after favorability ratings for the Democratic Party hit record lows this year. ‘Organizing Summer,’ as Democratic officials are calling it, is aimed at those challenges.

“The initiative will arm volunteers with pro-Democratic content and ask influencers to act as organizers who encourage their audiences to get politically involved and mobilize their contacts. It will also include voter registration events and organizing at concerts, athletic events and fairs.

“In a statement announcing the new program, Democratic National Committee Chair Ken Martin focused on Trump’s budget bill, saying that ‘the more people know about it, the less they like it.’

“‘Our job this summer is to make sure working families know exactly who is responsible for taking food off their table and ripping away their health care,’ Martin said.”

Deadline: As GOP Looks To Pass Donald Trump’s “Big, Beautiful Bill,” Democrats Launch Effort To Mobilize Against It With “Organizing Summer”

[Ted Johnson, 6/30/25]

“‘As Senate Republicans work through a marathon session to pass Donald Trump‘s ‘“One, Big Beautiful Bill,’ Democrats are outlining plans for a summer of organizing against it and other policies.

“Events are being planned in battleground states with key Senate, House and gubernatorial races this November and in next year’s midterms. They will include organizing and voter registration efforts, as well outreach at events such as summer concerts, sports games and state and county fairs. The party also plans to equip ‘volunteers to authentically enter conversation in non-political spaces, both within their personal networks and in their communities, online and in-person, such as in sports forums, community groups, book clubs, and on social media platforms,’ per the announcement.

“Ken Martin, the chair of the Democratic National Committee, said, ‘Donald Trump’s tax scam is the least popular legislation to pass through Congress in 40 years, and the more people know about it, the less they like it. Our job this summer is to make sure working families know exactly who is responsible for taking food off their table and ripping away their health care.’”

MeidasTouch News: Democrats Launch ‘Organizing Summer’ in Key States Ahead of 2026 Midterms

[Troy Matthews, 6/30/25]

“The DNC announced today the kick-off of ‘organizing summer’ in key states ahead of both the 2025 general election in November, and the 2026 midterms, to highlight the massive Republican transfer of wealth from the poor to the rich in Trump’s disastrous and unpopular budget bill.

“The campaign aims to seize on Democratic enthusiasm after months of special election victories at the congressional and state level following the 2024 presidential election, along with global acts of protest like ‘No Kings Day,’ which saw over 13 million people in the U.S., and tens of thousands overseas, march in the streets against the authoritarian policies of Trump and MAGA Republicans.

“‘Donald Trump’s tax scam is the least popular legislation to pass through Congress in 40 years, and the more people know about it, the less they like it,’ DNC Chair Ken Martin said in a statement. ‘Our job this summer is to make sure working families know exactly who is responsible for taking food off their table and ripping away their health care.’

[Seth McLaughlin, 6/30/25]

“The Democratic National Committee announced the launch of an ‘organizing summer’ effort on Monday, aimed at energizing the grassroots and registering new voters by leveraging what it called ‘organic opposition’ to President Trump’s agenda.

“Ken Martin, the head of the national party, said Mr. Trump’s ‘Big Beautiful Bill’ has provided Democrats with an opportunity to expand their coalition by reconnecting with disillusioned Democrats, as well as Trump voters suffering from buyer’s remorse.

“‘This is the most unpopular bill ever, and this gives us an opportunity, if we are willing to take advantage of it,’ Mr. Martin said in a conference call with reporters. ‘That’s why we were launching organizing summer programs to make sure that throughout the country, we’re harnessing the energy of all of these volunteers and all of our 57 state parties to get out there and organize people face to face, neighbor to neighbor, door to door, listening to people about their concerns, about what’s happening in this country right now, helping to amplify those concerns and bringing people into the conversation.’

“The DNC is partnering with the Democrats’ coalition of state parties and the campaign arms for House, Senate and gubernatorial contests. They envision engaging with voters at book clubs, sporting events and in rural areas.”

Politico: Illinois Playbook: Pride, politics and power

[Shia Kapos, 6/30/25]

“NEW TODAY: The Democratic National Committee is ramping up efforts to build up the party brand this summer by holding events in 35 targeted districts across the country, including in Illinois.

“Watch for voter-registration drives — something the DNC has for years left up to nonprofits — and mobilizing thousands of volunteers to engage in social media and local community groups to promote the party’s initiatives.

“The goal of ‘Organizing Summer,’ as the campaign is called, is to create authentic conversations in non-political spaces, both within volunteers’ personal networks and in their communities. Watch for discussions to pop up in sports forums, community groups, book clubs and on social media platforms, echoing the hyper-local campaign efforts that Barack Obama made in his early presidential campaigns. ‘We’re going to be at concerts, county fairs and sporting events,’ said a person familiar with the plans.”
