ICYMI: Texas Democrat Gina Ortiz Jones Clinches Historic Victory in San Antonio Mayoral Race

On Saturday, Texas Democrat Gina Ortiz Jones clinched a historic victory in the San Antonio mayoral race. This race is the latest in a string of back-to-back Democratic overperformances and victories in competitive elections in 2025. Mayor-elect Ortiz Jones’ victory also comes as Republicans tried — and failed — to pump massive amounts of right-wing dark money into her opponent’s campaign, a sign that no matter how hard Republicans try to buy elections, the sheer will of voters who are tired of Republicans’ out-of-touch agenda will prevail.

The DNC is proud to have helped Texas Democrats as Mayor-elect Ortiz Jones crossed the finish line, deploying over 200 volunteers to reach over 100,000 voters during GOTV.

To support Mayor-elect Gina Ortiz Jones’ campaign, the DNC:

  • Supported Texas Democrats’ Get Out The Vote efforts, reaching over 100,000 voters through volunteer outreach.
  • Deployed over 200 of our volunteers both locally and nationally through phone banks and canvases.

With her win, the residents of San Antonio can look forward to continued strong Democratic leadership on their side.
