Many Trump Voters Support Biden’s American Rescue Plan — Yet Republicans Want To Hold Up Stimulus Checks

A bipartisan majority of Americans and a sizable number of Trump voters support President Biden’s American Rescue Plan. While Democrats are united with the American people in pushing for additional stimulus checks, Republican lawmakers are playing political games and focused on sideshows or the civil war raging in their party.

A sizable number of Trump voters join a bipartisan majority of Americans in supporting President Biden’s American Rescue Plan.

McClatchy: “President Joe Biden’s pandemic relief bill is receiving overwhelming approval from swing voters, which include many of former President Donald Trump’s supporters.”

New York Times: “Republican leaders in Washington firmly oppose the president’s stimulus plan, but a sizable number of Trump voters support it, interviews and polls show.”

Unlike Republican lawmakers, Trump voters recognize that people need help right now and additional stimulus checks.

Trump voter: “There’s a lot of people that could use those checks.”

Trump voter: “Most of it sounds like a good idea.”

Trump voter: “I’m pleased so far — I really am surprised, but I am. I agree with a lot of things Biden is doing.”

Instead of focusing on delivering relief to Americans, Republicans are consumed by sideshows and the civil war raging inside their party.

New York Times: “While Democrats are working swiftly to move their bill, Republicans are consumed by sideshows like false claims of voter fraud and what they call cancel culture, which are two major themes of the annual Conservative Political Action Conference, known as CPAC, starting on Friday in Orlando, Fla.”

Politico: “The episode perfectly captured the civil war raging inside the not-so-post-Trump GOP. And those divisions will be on full display this weekend during CPAC, an annual party gathering where the action of late has become very much about one man — Donald John Trump — and very little about conservatism or policy or much of anything else.”
